Learning outcomes

The course aims at providing examples of the contribution contemporary philosophy has made to the understanding of the functioning of language, of the relation between language, material reality and social reality. At the end of the course, students will have to prove that they accurately know the subjects of the program, are able to expose them in a consequential and concise way, have acquired an independent judgement.

TRUTH, LIES AND THE PROBLEM OF HISTORY
The course aims to read and discuss Nietzsche's "Über Wahrheit und Lüge im außermoralischen Sinne" and Ginzburg's interpretation of Nietzsche. Thus, we will ask if and how we can speak about historical facts.

Examination Methods

The exam wil be based on a discussion concerning the student's final paper and Nietzsche's and Ginzburg's texts.
Final evaluation will consider:
- philosophical knowledge (texts)
- argumentative skills
- critical thinking skills
Oral exam (from June 2020 to February 2021)
