Learning outcomes
The course is aimed to understand the ethical relationship particularly referring to Communication Ethics and to the rational grounding of Ethics. At the end of the course, the student will have to demonstrate knowledge and skills referring to challenging texts and to their interpretation and also to be able to open a wide reflection on these ethical subjects.
Program
Reason and relationship: the meaning of Community and the rational grounding of Ethics as an issue according to Karl-Otto Apel.
The program aims at analyzing and discussing Apel’s philosophical perspective referring to such issues as:
- The relationship between Community and Communication
- Rational grounding of Ethics in the Age of science
- “Transcendental pragmatics”
- Discourse Ethics and Ethics of responsibility
- Mutual trust and human relationships.

Examination Methods
Oral test of the program and the reading list. To pass the exam, students will have to demonstrate that they have achieved the learning outcomes: acquired knowledge, interpretation and ethical reflection skills will be verified referring to course program and reading list.
