Learning outcomes
Obiettivi formativi: The course aims to read philosophy in the light of the difference to be women / men, from the conviction that sexual difference counts for something in what the mind makes. The thought of sexual difference is a new and original perspective, open from feminist thought, in the horizon of contemporary philosophy.
Program
Contenuto del corso: The women thought of the twentieth century
The course examines the contribution of women to the philosophy of the twentieth century. This contribution is expressed on the one hand in a grip of feminist consciousness that has profoundly changed both the conception of the subject, seen as sexual, both the relationship with others and with the world, on the other hand in the contribution of a female sensibility the great philosophical issues of our time.
The course introduces the thought of sexual difference from a text of Luce Irigaray: the prospect of sexual difference entails a critique of patriarchal thinking and at the same time the enhancement of a woman's point of view on the world. Since in this perspective is not indifferent being women or men in the work of thought, later we will consider three major philosophers of the twentieth century (Simone Weil, Hannah Arendt and Maria Zambrano), in the belief that these authors, while not being feminists, realize in some way in the thought the fact of being women.
