Period

II SEMESTRE dal Feb 27, 2017 al Jun 10, 2017.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- recognise translation relevant text typologies;
- analyse text types from the point of view of translation;
- demonstrate knowledge about text specific translation problems;
- solve translation problems occuring in the German-Italian and Italian-German translations of texts reelated to tourism and commerce;
- produce target texts which are coherent with the text function and audience, on the basis of small translation assignment.

Nach Abschluss des Kurses sollen die Studenten in der Lage sein:
- Textsorten unter einem translatorischen Gesichtspunkt zu erkennen;
- Textsorten unter einem translatorischen Gesichtspunkt zu analysieren;
- Bewusstsein von textabhängigen Problemen des Übersetzens nachzuweisen;
- Übersetzungsprobleme der deutsch-italienischen und italienisch-deutschen Übersetzung in touristischen-kommerziellen Texten zu lösen;
- Funktions- und adressatengerechten Zietexten auf der Grundlage eines kleinen Übersetzungsauftrags zu produzieren.

Program

After a theoretical introduction about translation as a communicative activity strictly related to source text typology and context, we will work on translation strategies and procedures based on real texts related to tourism and commerce in the language combination German-Italian.
As well as presenting the basic knowledge on translation analysis of internal and external aspects of texts, the course aims at developing the ability to autonomously manage simple translation activities. The texts taken from real world situations will be analyzed and specific translation strategies will be discussed in order to be able to elaborate credible target texts.
