Learning objectives
The course aims to provide basic knowledge of the main types of financial instruments and markets. Therefore, the course investigates the technical and evaluation features of the most important financial instruments, as well as the structure of the related financial markets. Students will learn concepts necessary to analyze the role played by financial instruments and markets within the financial system. At the end of the course, students will be able to identify and understand both the appropriate risk and return measures of the different types of financial instruments analyzed and the organizational structure of the financial markets in which they are traded.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Although there are no prerequisites, the basics of Business Administration and Mathematics for Economics and Finance are strongly recommended.

The ECB monetary policy.
Financial instruments: bonds, stocks and derivatives.
Financial markets: functions and operating modes.
