Learning outcomes
Teaching: anatomo-functional and physiopathological basis of rheumatic diseases; physical exam and main instrumental and laboratory analysis; classification, epidemiology, clinical characteristics, diagnostic criteria; basis of therapeutic approach, with and without drugs administration.
Program
• Anatomo-funcional basis of the different articular and musculoskeletal structures: structure and cells of connective tissues; structure and function of joints; structure and remodeling of bone tissue;
• Physiopathological basis of rheumatic diseases: inflammatory, degenerative, metabolic, immunologic, infective, genetic and psychosomatic processes;
• Main symptoms and signs of rheumatic diseases: pain, tenderness, weakness, strain, rush, swelling, disability, instability, deformity, vascular deficit. Elementary rheumatologic physical exams: inspection, palpation, movement evaluation, main physical exams, functional tests;
• Main instrumental and laboratory analysis;
• General classification of different rheumatic diseases and essential epidemiologic information;
• Risk conditions and main radiological and clinical manifestations of osteoporosis; differences with the other main rheumatic diseases;
• Main anatomo-pathological and clinical characteristics of osteoarthritis and their placement on localization and aetiological basis; the essential placement of other articular or peri-articular degenerative diseases;
• Main anatomo-pathological, diagnostic, clinical and prognostic elements of rheumatoid arthritis;
• Clinical manifestations of main seronegative arthritis, in particular of spondyloarthritis;
• Distinctive elements of bacterial arthritis, gout and chondrocalcinosis;
• Main articular, cutaneous and visceral manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus and of other main connectivities (scleroderma, dermatomyositis, Sjogren syndrome, vasculitis, rheumatic polymyalgia);
• Distinctive characteristics of fibromialgic syndrome and of localized extra-articular rheumatisms;
• Possible rheumatological manifestations in various diseases
