Learning outcomes

The course is meant to provide a basic knowledge of Italian regulations concerning publishing of data, contents and images in the area of cultural heritage and provide an overview of most common web-based services for Internet publishing. The final objective is to give participants the tools to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the different tools and the skills to use them effectively.

Program

The teachings are divided in lectures about the theoretical aspects of the matter and workshops:

Current Italian regulations concerning publishing of cultural heritage data & information, fundamentals of legislation on digital rights, basic notions about the Web and Internet services.
How to find your way between social network, wiki, virtual teams, etc.

Fundamentals of Internet and the Web, standards for the web, principles of accessibility for websites

How to build a web site or a blog
An introduction to available free-software Content Management systems (CMS) and their use; fundamentals of web site design.

How to resize and improve image quality before publishing, using watermarks for copyrights management.

Colors, fonts, media, standards for the web, principles of accessibility for websites.
