Learning outcomes

Pharmacology, anesthesia and dental emergencies is subdivided in 3 modules. Goal of the pharmacological module is to guide the students in the process of understanding the mechanisms of actions of drugs, with the generation of symptoms and of adverse reactions. Focus will be on drugs connected to the future professional practice of the student. The module of anesthesiology will address theories and practices of anesthesia in the odontoiatric context while the Emergencies module will introduce the students to first aid procedures and methods to support injured patients and collaborate with other members of the first aid team.

Program

In each module general aspects will be addressed first (for pharmacology: D/R interactions and PK, for anesthesiology: principles for different anesthetic procedures; and for emergencies organization of first aid interventions), followed by extended analysis of specific issues in the context of professional practices. Thus, the analysis of the mechanisms of action, the clinical aspects and the adverse reactions of drugs acting on inflammatory conditions, infections and pain will become the focus of the pharmacology and the anesthesiology modules, while their use in first aid and emergency situations will be the focus of the third module
