PHYSIOTHERAPY IN DEVELOPMENTAL AGE (2021/2022)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
Provide basic knowledge on the pathologies of childhood neuropsychiatric developmental age, methodology of musculoskeletal and neurological physiotherapy in developmental age, as well as the enabling / rehabilitative and psychomotor methodologies in development 0-6 years. MODULE: INFANT NEUROPSYCHIATRIC DISEASES IN PHYSIOTHERAPY Know the main models of motor development and their influence on physiotherapy practice. Know the etiopathogenesis, clinical picture, pharmacological therapies and the main childhood neuropsychiatric pathologies like Infant Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Neuromuscular Diseases, dyspraxia, epilepsies, Pervasive Developmental Disorders. Know the impact of these conditions on ontogenetic development on the sense-motor, affective-relational, cognitive-communicative sides. MODULE: PEDIATRIC PATHOLOGIES IN PHYSIOTHERAPY Know the principles of growth (auxology), the main metabolic diseases and childhood diseases of bones - such as imperfect osteogenesis, pediatric osteoporosis, rickets - with the related pharmacological, surgical and rehabilitative treatments. Know the effects of physical exercise on growth. Know etiopathogenesis, clinical picture and treatments of the main perinatal problems - such as congenital hip dislocation, myogenic torticollis, congenital clubfoot, obstetric paralysis. Know etiopathogenesis, clinical picture and treatments of the main pediatric respiratory diseases (cystic fibrosis, asthma and pediatric onco-hematological diseases). Know etiopathogenesis, clinical picture and treatment of musculoskeletal dysmorphisms of the rachis in developmental age and of the main forms of recurrent skeletal muscle pain in children. MODULE: DEVELOPMENTAL / REHABILITATION AND PSYCHOMOTOR METHODS IN DEVELOPMENT 0-6 YEARS Know the conceptual, methodological and cultural bases of rehabilitation in developmental age. Know the stages of child development from 0 to 6 years in its psychological, psychomotor and relational components, studying and evaluating them starting from the theoretical point of view up to clinical practice. Identify and recognize developmental constructs in observing the child's behaviour. Know the role of the different actors of the rehabilitation team in the pediatric age, of the family, of the school, of the network resources in the rehabilitation path of the child. Know the definition of "family-centered intervention", principles and characteristics, scientific evidence, methods of application and verification, as well as the relevant elements of multicultural families, of the "foreign" child and of the adopted child. MODULE: METHODOLOGY OF MUSCULOSCHELETRIC AND NEUROLOGICAL PHYSIOTHERAPY IN EVOLUTIONARY AGE Know the specificity of physiotherapy in pediatric age (holistic approach, evolutionary process, concept of enabling-rehabilitation, family centrality) for the musculoskeletal, cardio-pulmonary, central and peripheral nervous systems. Know the methodology of treatment of childhood disabilities and know how to set up a physiotherapy program, the modality of construction of a therapeutic session (therapeutic setting), the physiotherapeutic facilities for the modification of the motor module, of the scheme and representation in disabilities with neurological damage, for the collection of perceptive information, for their elaboration and subsequent representation. Know principles and methods of physiotherapy intervention in the main neuropsychiatric childhood diseases such as infantile cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular diseases, dyspraxia, epilepsy, pervasive developmental disorders; to know the developmental age specifics of therapeutic exercise design, of manual facilitation and containment techniques, of the identification and proposal of aids and orthoses, of therapeutic education to the contextual factors of the child's life, of the assessment tools of the modifiability of the clinic framework. Know and apply the general guidelines of physiotherapy treatment of postural torticollis and congenital myogenic torticollis, congenital clubfoot, obstetric lesions of the brachial plexus, congenital hip dislocation, rachis dysmorphism, both rehabilitative, orthotic and post-surgical. Know the fundamental principles of observation and assessment of the premature child - the behavioral approach and the general movements (GM’s Prechtl) - of the "care" and physiotherapy in Neonatal Intensive Care, of the modalities of habilitation and rehabilitation of the premature and his family. Know and apply the specific maneuvers of the "Infant Massage". Know and apply the principles of physiotherapy treatment in the main cardiopulmonary pathologies of children with complex disabilities (surgical, cystic fibrosis, asthma, immunodeficiencies) and the principles of palliative interventions in pediatric oncology. Know the basic elements of post-surgical physiotherapy (functional surgery) and post-inoculation of botulinum toxin in disabilities with neurological damage.
