Philosophy of Education and Educational Research
The goal of the course is to help preservice teachers to understand the philosophical dimension of the pedagogical discourse. This will allows them to see philosophy as a thoughtful method aimed at gaining on in-depht comprehension of the complexity of the educational practice. Moreover, Philosophy of Education gives a framework for identifying the experiences that are capable to cultivate each anthropological dimension.
Educational Research
The goal of the course is to teach research skills representing a fundamental dimension for teacher profession, following the pattern of the researcher-teacher. This goal will be achieved through knowledge and instruments useful for teachers: theoretical knowledge referred to the philosophy of care (a theoretical framework to develop a kind of school intended as an educative context for children), methods and instruments to plan and realize an educative research.

The "Philosophy of School" and "Educational Research" modules are developed in close liaison and in a manner agreed upon by the teachers, thus giving shape to an epistemological principle that sees empirical research and philosophical reflection as two inseparable moments for the foundation of pedagogy. The course -module "School Philosophy"- aims at outlining and deepening the founding principles of a school philosophy that thinks about education in the light of the theory of care. The main topics covered will be - cognitive education - affective education - aesthetic education - ethical education - school and spirituality - ecological education - education in citizenship

The "Philosophy of School" and "Educational Research" modules are developed in close liaison and in a manner agreed upon by the teachers, thus giving shape to an epistemological principle that sees empirical research and philosophical reflection as two inseparable moments in the foundation of pedagogy. The course -module "Educational Research"- aims to offer the knowledge and skills necessary for the design and implementation of educational research in the classroom. The main topics covered will be: - the heuristic and reflective skills of the teacher - designing an educational research: analysing the context, detecting the needs, identifying the problem, designing a coherent educational intervention, outlining the heuristic process - qualitative research - the paradigm, epistemology, research philosophies and methods of qualitative analysis - Service Learning - research for children - ethical education at school: an example of educational research
