Learning objectives

The course intends to teach the key elements of school planning and evaluation: the given information will be used to understand what is happening in the school system at every level, referring to educational processes and institutional innovations. The course will present essential knowledge to develop professional skills, assuming a perspective that considers the school as horizon of reflection and action, characterized by high complexity, and that implies a vision of evaluation not as simple learning measurement.

Prerequisites and basic notions

It is required to have taken the exams of previous years relating to the didactic field and to have carried out at least one year of internship.

Program

The course aims to provide the conceptual frameworks and methodological tools according to the teacher's didactic action with respect to curricular planning and school evaluation. The context within which the course is located is that of the school of autonomy and the national guidelines which require a re-reading of programming and evaluation in the perspective of a teaching based on skills.
The learning outcomes expected at the end of the course are:
- to know the cultural reasons that orient towards a teaching based on skills;
- to know the main theoretical models regarding programming and evaluation in kindergarten and primary school;
- understand how to design educational courses and evaluate them in kindergarten and primary school;
-how to manage educational contexts in kindergarten and primary school;
-know how to use the specific terms related to curricular planning and skills assessment in an informed way;
-knowing how to analyze the different types of projects in order to meet the needs of different learning styles;
-be able to critically analyze the educational interventions planned in the exercises during the course, identifying points for improvement and potential;
-know how to design a skills assessment system.
In order to pursue the educational objectives of the course, the following themes will be addressed:
- evolution of the school system and of the debate on the curriculum;
- socio-affective dimension of the school experience: construction of the group of pupils;
- act encouraging as a relational style of the teacher useful for promoting learning and establishing an inclusive climate;
- from programming by objectives to programming by skills: cultural reasons and didactic implications;
-Kerr map as an analyzer of the different design modes; -different types of classroom activities planning;
- characteristics of teaching by skills; - forms and tools of evaluation;
-evaluation of skills: the trifocal perspective;
-construction of evaluation rubrics and other evaluation tools. In carrying out the program, attention will always be paid to both the kindergarten and the primary school context.

Learning assessment procedures

-Multiple choice test to evaluate the knowledge acquired (30 multiple choice questions on the moodle platform; 20 minutes available; free access to the test on the indicated days and three attempts available, which will be considered the best performance).
-Written test to evaluate the argumentative and synthesis skills (two open questions, time 2 hours).
-Elaboration of a portfolio to evaluate the applicative and reflective skills (the activities will accompany the course and will be indicated in the moodle space of the course).
-Oral interview for allow to evaluate the ability to reorganize what has been learned and to grasp the relationships also with respect to the internship experience (as well as a further verification of the above and possibly offer spaces for clarification).

Evaluation criteria

Mastery of the proposed contents. Competence in the use of specific vocabulary. Effectiveness and linearity in the exposure. Ability to organize the knowledge learned by making connections between them. Argumentative and reflective ability. Ability to relate the study carried out with the internship experience. The overall evaluation is attributed with a mark out of thirty.
