Learning objectives

The goal of the course is to teach main knowledge and skills about the role of the teacher in the primary and pre-primary school. In particular, the course intends to introduce students to active teaching methodologies with the aim of defining how to realize processes of teaching and learning within this perspective.

At the end of the course students and students should know:
- being aware of the pedagogical theories underlying the use of active teaching methods;
- knowing how to use the main active learning strategies;
- being aware of the pedagogical theories underlying the use of teaching technologies
Applying knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course students and students should know:
• know how to conceive, design, implement and manage an active learning strategy
• knowing how to promote an education aimed at a critical use of technologies.
Making judgements
At the end of the course students and students should demonstrate reflective and critical thinking skills applied to the acquired knowledge in regard to the specific characteristics of the children enrolled in kindergarten and primary school.
Communication
At the end of the course students and students should to demonstrate to know the communication codes coherent with their professional practice in kindergarten and primary school.
Lifelong learning skills
At the end of the course students and students should demonstrate that they know how to update the acquired knowledge coherently with what is required in educational contexts.

Program

Contents
The contents of the course are:
• pedagogical theories underlying active learning
• active teaching methods
• pedagogical theories underlying teaching technologies
• teaching technologies
The exam program will be focused on some scientific articles that will be defined during the lessons.

Didactic methods

Lectures, cooperative teaching / learning. Use of tools and training devices with the support of technology: digital products, video projections of films regarding teaching in primary school and subsequent commentary / analysis work.

Learning assessment procedures

Method of assessment of learing outputs
As output of the group work that will be carried out in the classroom, the students wlll be called upon to produce assignments, both individual and group.
Each student will also be asked to contribute with an individual product.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

At the final evaluation of each student will contribute: a) the evaluation of the elaborate; b) the evaluation of the individual product; c) the final feedback collected in a written form.
