Learning objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to: - describe the grammatical phenomena of the Russian language by using an adequate linguistic terminology, both in Italian and in Russian; - apply formal linguistic concepts to the different levels of analysis of the Russian language; - think critically on linguistic issues related to the acquisition and teaching of Russian as a Foreign Language.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Previous knowledge of Russian (B1).

Program

1. Linguistics: foundamental terminology and concepts;
2. The Russian language in the contemporary world;
3. Genealogic and typologic classification of languages;
4. Levels of analysis of the Russian language: phonetics, morphology, syntax, lexicon, pragmatics;
5. The Russian National Corpus.

Learning assessment procedures

Written section + oral section
WRITTEN TEST
Duration: 1h 30m
The written section is a test consisting of exercises on the topics of the course.
ORAL EXAMINATION
The oral section will require students to:
- correct the errors in the written exam;
- read, translate and comment an excerpt from a specialized text in linguistics written in Russian.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

Assessment criteria:
- content accuracy and completeness;
- achievement of adequate analysis abilities;
- clarity in the exposition, arguing ability;
- knowledge of the subject-specific lexicon.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The oral interview can only be taken after passing the written test (with a mark of no less than 18/30). The final mark is the arithmetic mean of the marks received in the two tests.
