Learning objectives
The course aims to introduce to the study of Italian literature through the analysis of significant works especially considering their relationships with foreign literary traditions. At the end of the course the student will be able to - contextualize, understand and comment on a literary text; - move with competence in the framework of the Italian literary tradition and its main thematic and formal characteristics, with attention to the intersections with the European literature.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Basic knowledge of italian texts and literary currents of 18th and 19th century. These prerequisites will be recalled during the lessons.
Program
Presentation of the main moments of autobiographical writing and of the main critical pages on the genre. Reading, analysis and comment of some texts. During the lessons, teaching materials will be used which will form an integral part of the exam program. They will be made available on the Moodle teaching platform. As regards the texts in the program, during the lessons it will be specified which pages will be examined. For non-attending students, the study of the entire volume on Tommaseo is required, which for those attending will be limited to some essays.
Bibliography
Didactic methods
Frontal lessons. Exercises in reading and interpreting literary texts. The teaching materials offered are coherent of the exam program.
Learning assessment procedures
The exam will be written. One of the questions will consist in the comment on a piece of a work examined during the course; the other questions will verify the learning of the concepts dealt with in the aforementioned bibliography.
Evaluation criteria
Out of thirty, according to the following parameters: - Insufficient: under 18/30 - Sufficient: from 18 to 21 - Good: from 22 to 25 - Fair: from 26 to 29 - Excellent: 30 and 30 cum laude
