Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
The course is intended to provide students with the legal tools and methodologies necessary to understand the European integration process, in the light of its interplay with both international and domestic legal orders. To this aim, the course will focus on the EU institutional system and the main fields of intervention of the European Union by means of the study of the Treaties and the case law of the Court of Justice. In this context, ultimate aim of the course is to acquire full command of EU legal sources and awareness of the evolution of European legal order.
Program
In summary, the following topics will be covered:
I. INSTITUTIONAL MODULE
• history of the European integration;
• the institutional structure of the European Union: the institutions, the organs and their functioning;
• EU competences;
• the system of the EU legal sources and the features of the EU acts;
• the interplay between EU and national law, also in relation to the internal regional dimension;
• the jurisdictional protection;
• the EU external relations, the EU joint foreign and security policy;
• the fundamental rights in the EU legal system;
• the European citizenship.
II. EU POLICIES MODULE
• fundamental freedoms: goods, persons, services and establishment
• EU competition law: general overview, modernization of EU competition law, EU rules on competition addressed to undertakings (prohibition of restrictive agreements and abuse of dominant position) and to Member States (State aids);
• common commercial policy;
• Economic and monetary Union.
TEACHING METHODS
Classes are taught in Italian. They will comprise both lectures focused on the study of the basic notions and legal sources regarding European Union law and practical lectures during which the relevant case law will be discussed.
The teaching materials used during the course, to be added to the reference books, will be provided to the students through the e-learning platform "Moodle".
TEACHING METHODS
The lessons, in accordance with the University guidelines, will be held in the classroom and will be available to the students also by remote streaming via zoom link. The recording of each lesson will also be published on the moodle page of the course.

Examination Methods
The oral exam covers the whole course’s program. The final mark will be expressed in thirtieths.
Erasmus students can choose to take the oral exam
- in Italian, according to the same course syllabus and examination methods provided for Italian students;
- in English, according to a course syllabus and examination methods to be agreed with the professor.
The oral exam is aimed at ascertaining, besides the knowledge of the topics of the course, that the student has developed sufficient analytical abilities. In particular, the oral examination is aimed at assessing:
- the level of the preparation of the student;
- the use of the appropriate legal jargon;
- the ability of connecting the different topics of the programme;
- the analytical skills.
Type D and Type F activities
Le attività che consentono l’acquisizione dei crediti riservati alle attività formative a libera scelta dello studente (TAF D) sono le seguenti:
• Un insegnamento previsto nell’elenco delle attività formative (TAF D) allegato al piano didattico del corso di laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza;
• Un insegnamento attivato nei Corsi di studi afferenti al Collegio di Giurisprudenza;
• Un laboratorio didattico attivato nei Corsi di studi afferenti al Collegio di Giurisprudenza;
• Un laboratorio didattico attivato nei Corsi di studi afferenti al Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche;
• Un insegnamento previsto dall’Offerta Formativa di Ateneo, non impartito nell’ambito dei corsi di studi afferenti al Collegio di Giurisprudenza: il riconoscimento dei crediti acquisiti sarà subordinato alla preventiva presentazione di coerenti programmi formativi valutati dalla Commissione istruttoria per la didattica e approvati dal Collegio didattico.
• Attività formative organizzate dai singoli docenti del Collegio di Giurisprudenza o del Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche: previa approvazione del Collegio ad esse verrà attribuito, dopo un’apposita verifica, un credito per ogni 6 ore di frequenza obbligatoria;
• Attività formative che implicano la partecipazione a convegni o seminari organizzati sotto il “logo” del Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche o dell’Ateneo: devono essere preventivamente approvate dal Collegio di Giurisprudenza indicando un docente di riferimento del Collegio di Giurisprudenza ovvero del Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche. Un credito per ogni giornata di convegno o di seminario si acquisisce dopo apposita verifica che dimostri l’avvenuta fruizione culturale del tema del convegno o del seminario.
Le attività che consentono l’acquisizione dei crediti riservati alle ulteriori attività formative (TAF F) sono le seguenti:
• Informatica (3 cfu)
• Stage;
• Un laboratorio didattico attivato nei Corsi di studi afferenti al Collegio di Giurisprudenza;
• Un laboratorio didattico attivato nei Corsi di studi afferenti al Dipartimento di Scienze Giuridiche.

Internships are aimed at enabling students to gain direct knowledge of the world of work and to acquire specific professional skills.
Internships are carried out under the responsibility of an individual lecturer, and can be carried out in professional firms, public administration bodies and companies recognised by the University of Verona.
Any CFU credits gained by doing internships will be recognised and recorded by the University in accordance with the relevant University regulations in force (Regolamento d’Ateneo per il riconoscimento dei crediti maturati negli stage universitari).
