The expected learning outcomes are: KNOWLEDGE: 1.Knowledge of the sources, tools and methodologies used in the reconstruction of the ancient environment with particular focus on road networks, agrarian organisation and urban development. 2. Program
In the first part of the course, the themes related to the Roman age will be addressed, both in general terms and with in-depth analysis in the territorial context of Roman-era Venetia, also through their application in specific research projects of the teacher. In particular, the following will be discussed: 1. the meaning and value of historical topography; 2. the tools and methods for the study and reconstruction of the ancient environment; 3. Roman roads, agrarian organization, urban structures. In a second part, these same themes will be explored in depth for the late ancient period, up to the first centuries of the Middle Ages (VI AD), thus providing a long-term diachronic perspective, capable of highlighting the main processes and changes underway.
