Learning outcomes
basic knowledge of Sumerian language and grammar, basic linguistic competence and knowledge of tools for reading and interpreting simple documents; introduction to the study of Sumerian literary texts and of the epigraphic heritage of the Near East and related problems.
Program
Required: general historical and linguistic competence
Syllabus: a) Sumerian language: elements of phonetics, morphology and syntax; b) types of texts and contexts of their production and reception; c) guided reading of simple texts and passages from the poem Gilgamesh and Akka.
Teaching methods: lectures, guided analysis of documents in Sumerian language.
Attendance is strongly recommended and students unable to attend are invited to consult the teacher for defining the program.
