At the end of the course students will be expected to have acquired a capacity to analyze the form and content of film texts and to demonstrate an understanding of traditions of filmmaking in different national and international contexts.

Program

After an introduction to the main junctions in the history of cinema (the avant-garde silent films, classic Hollywood, neorealism, modern cinema, contemporary cinema), the course will focus on the issue of divism and the communication strategies implemented by contemporary stars on social networks. Some case studies such as Scarlett Johansson, Marilyn Monroe, Pierfrancesco Favino, etc. will be analyzed.
