Learning outcomes
Hygiene and preventive medicine in early childhood are designed to address the lifestyle habits of the child to increase his health's state . Crucial in this regard, is the knowledge of the epidemiological profile of the disease in the child population and the most common lifestyle habits, to acquire teachers with the basic knowledge of methods of prevention and education for the protection of the health of the child.
The course will be divided into three modules:
- study of the epidemiological profiles of the most important infectious diseases in childhood and chronic-degenerative diseases in adults whose risk factors already act in the first years of life;
- study of the methods of prevention of the main infectious diseases, with particular reference to those of the first years of life;
- diet, physical activity and health
Program
• population and health: the role of hygiene.
• epidemiological models of disease appearance: the role of the causes and risk factors;
• primary, secondary and tertiary prevention;
• infectious diseases: bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms; general epidemiology with particular emphasis on childhood and food-borne diseases;
• prevention of infectious diseases. Principles of disinfection and sterilization. Vaccinations;
• chronic degenerative diseases: the approach to epidemiological knowledge and prevention measures regarding diseases with greater social impact, which involve very early exposure;
• hygiene of food for very young children;
• nutrition hygiene: nutritional choices in 0-3 year olds and health effects.
