Learning outcomes

The student has to learn the communication between the Gynecological patient (similar to the other Medical and Surgical Discipline) and the more complex Low Risk (communication with the healthy subject) and Pathological (o High Risk) Obstetrical ones (communication of maternal and fetal pathology) , integrating it with the Neonatologist, when necessary.
In addition, the student has to gain knowledge of Outpatient and Emergency setting management, be involved in the Cervical Cancer screening (execution of at least one Pap test as first operator), follow the management of one clinical case from the onset to the discharge, take part to the obstetric-gynecologists diagnostic activity and observe the clinical activity of the Labor Ward and of the Operating Theatre under the Tutor’s supervision.

Program

On the first day of the training period, the student receives a detailed program based on a rotation between Labor Ward, Operating Theatre, Obstetric and Gynecologist Emergency Room, Obstetric Ward, Gynecology ward and Outpatient activity. The student is daily assigned to a tutor, which is the duty Senior of the Labor Ward.
