Learning outcomes
The course is aimed to provide the students with the clinical knowledge and treatment principles related to the main neurosurgical diseases relevant from a rehabilitation perspective.
Topics and final examination will focus on: brain trauma and spinal cord injury, hemorrhagic stroke, brain, brainstem and spinal cord tumors, hydrocephalus, disk herniation and spinal stenosis, spina bifida.
Program
Head trauma (traumatic brain injuries, physiopathology of intracranial hypertension, Glasgow Coma Scale, Glasgow Outcome Scale)
Spinal trauma (physiopathology of spinal cord injury, spinal shock, ASIA scale, incomplete spinal cord syndromes)
Brain hemorrhages (spontaneous and due to aneurysm/AVM rupture)
Hydrocephalus
Brain and spinal cord tumors
Spinal dysraphisms
Examination Methods
The exam will be oral, or through multiple choice written test. Questions will mainly address the topics of the frontal lessons.
The marks of Neurotraumatology and Imaging will integrate the marks of Neurology exam.
