Learning outcomes

The oral cavity is an organ that is characterized by the ability to quickly and painlessly perform an accurate clinical evaluation of the various structures that compose it (dental elements, loose mucosa, adherent gingiva, etc.). Alterations to these structures can be features of pathologies of a different nature from inflammatory ones to benign and malignant neoplastic pathologies. The dental hygienist, thanks to the continuity of care that his profession provides, represents a privileged figure for early intercepting the aforementioned pathologies and correctly addressing the patient. The aim of the course is to provide students with all the tools necessary to perform a correct physical examination of the oral cavity in its entirety. In addition, all the most frequent soft tissue pathologies from inflammatory to infectious lesions, from precancerous lesions to neoplastic lesions up to autoimmune pathologies will be discussed.
