Learning objectives
In this module we will look at different registers, levels of formality, and politeness forms which can be applied when communicating in the workplace.
In particular, students will practice the use of diplomatic English during written and spoken interactions with co-workers, business-partners, your boss, your employees, etc.
Prerequisites and basic notions
English language level equivalent or superior to B1.
Program
At the end of the module students will be able to
• make polite requests
• express disagreement respectfully
• reply to complaints in a professional way
• deliver negative messages diplomatically.
Didactic methods
Blended-learning. The module will include a 3-hour class and 3 hours of online activities on which students will receive feedback from the instructor.
Learning assessment procedures
Students will submit an assignment and participate in a reflection activity on the Moodle platform as part of the module.
