Learning objectives

The goal of the course is to help students to develop the skills necessary to engage in participatory research, which is the essential condition for being a "teacher-researcher": indeed the international literature assumes the acquisition of research skills as an essential element to stop the role of technical and assume that of educator

Prerequisites and basic notions

Students are asked to first review, if possible, what they learned in the course "Philosophy of education and educational research"(1st year), with particular attention to the text "Research and reflection: the formation of professional teacher" (Mortari, 2009).

Program

Acquiring research and reflective knowledge and skills that allow for the design and implementation of effective teaching paths, as well as identifying and resolving critical issues within learning contexts, is today an essential element of the professionalism of a teacher-researcher. The main topics covered concern the paradigms, epistemologies, philosophies and methodologies of educational research.

Didactic methods

The course will adopt a student-centered approach, with moments of frontal lessons, alternating with formative and evaluative devices based on active and cooperative teaching strategies. Specific attention will also be paid to the involvement of non-attending students through the sharing of the activities proposed in the classroom via the Moodle platform, which can be equally carried out by everyone to support the learning processes.

Learning assessment procedures

The final exam consists of a two-part exam:
1) Exam with open answers, aimed at evaluating the achievement of reflection and argumentation objectives.
2) Creation of a personal multimedia representation of the role of teacher-researcher.

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

The criteria for evaluating the open-ended exam are the following: degree of coherence of the answer with the question, degree of depth of the concepts, use of language appropriate to the scientific themes/concepts covered. Each question will be evaluated in thirtieths. The criteria for evaluating the individual paper will be explained in class and included, together with specific information for carrying it out, in a Moodle section dedicated to this exercise.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The final grade is the arithmetic mean of the grades obtained in the written test and in the individual paper.
