Learning objectives

The goal of the course is to make clear the cultural and educational aspects of media education: in order to this, it is necessary to understand the cognitive and meta-cognitive processes involved in cultural consumption and how people of different age “use” different media products. Through a deep theoretical analysis, the preservice teachers will learn how to plan educational activities dealing with every kind of media (from the paper to the Information and Communications Technology), with an informed and creative approach.

Prerequisites and basic notions

- Knowledge of historical periods and authors of art history. - General knowledge of the history of animated cinema - Knowledge of the fields of experience of the nursery school and of the art and image programs of the primary school

Program

- Approach to the aesthetics of beauty as a constitutive element of art pedagogy - In-depth analysis of graphic-pictorial and digital techniques - Organization of art and multimedia projects in relation to the fields of experience of nursery school and primary school disciplines - Design of multimedia and cross-media paths relating to activities with nursery and primary school children - Approach to iconography for a correct reading and understanding of the material and media work of art - Approach to the fundamental contents of animated cinema: from Walt Disney, Warner, Hanna & Barbera to Japanese and European productions - Organization of documentation and evaluation with particular reference to the interdisciplinary nature of experiences in nursery school
