Program

This module provides participants with knowledge on the basic concepts of e-Commerce and Information Technologies. In the first part e-Commerce is introduced, while the second part focuses on the main technologies enabling it. In the third section, participants will know some key information technologies behind marketing and security, two important aspects in eCommerce.

The goal of this module is to provide the participants with knowledge on the basic concepts, terminology, and technologies of Electronic Commerce. The course is organised in the following parts:

Part 1: e-Commerce [150 minutes]

We introduce e-Commerce and its basic concepts and terminology:

- What is e-Commerce?
- e-Commerce technologies and their unique features
- Types of e-Commerce and major e-Commerce business models

Part 2: Internet, Web and Mobile technologies [180 minutes]

We overview the main technologies enabling e-Commerce, namely:

- Internet
- Cloud Computing
- The Internet of Things
- Web and Web 2.0
- Search Engines
- Mobile platform and Apps

Part 3: Information Technologies behind some key eCommerce aspects [150 minutes]

We drill down on key technologies behind marketing and security in eCommerce. In details, we discuss the main technologies supporting marketers to get information about consumers, and the technological solutions adopted in eCommerce to face cybersecurity treats.
