Program

This is module will focus on multilateral aspects of negotiation skills. There will be a particular focus on this topic with reference to the European Union.

Overview:

- The process that led to the establishment of the European Union
- Analysis of the dynamics and process of the evolving European integration
- Basic principles, institutional structure, negotiation techniques
- New challenges facing the European Union
- The birth and the evolution of the United Nations: the UN structure
- Negotiation and decision-making in the different UN organs in particular Security Council and the General Assembly
- Strategies and tactics of negotiation in the EU and in the UN: differences and similarities

Examination Methods

Continuous assessment plus one midterm test and one final test.
