Learning outcomes

• Explain the historical origins, the basic principles and the fields of application of the main complementary therapeutic systems (homeopathy, herbal medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic and technical manual approaches).
• In light of the available scientific evidence, examine the main results of clinical and laboratory research on the effectiveness and side effects
• Identify and discuss the methodological problems that arise in basic research and in the clinic
