Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student must have acquired the fundamentals of Russian phonetics, prosody and morphology. He is expected to be in possessions of all the language skills provided for by the CEFR for level B1 and to be able to apply them to the comprehension of both written and oral texts.

Program

The course aims to provide basic notions on the phonetics and morphology of Russian Language and in particular: declination of nouns, adjectives, personal and demonstrative pronouns, use of cases, verbal system (conjugation, time, aspect), verbs of motion without prefixation. The programme includes the presentation of a basic vocabulary with particular reference to the vocabulary used for tourism and international relationships.

Teaching method: frontal lectures that will also involve reading, translation and analysis of short texts.

Examination Methods

The assessment through oral examination will include the following:
- reading and translation of a short text at first sight
- analysis of the grammar in the text
- exposition of a theoric grammar topic
- short conversation in Russian.

This exam cannot be taken before passing the B1 certification.
