Learning objectives
The course aims to present the theories and to provide the tools for the study of the relationship between performing and visual arts, both in terms of iconographic evidence and of artists’ contribution to the conception or the construction of the scenography of the shows from antiquity to the digital age. At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the many possible interactions between performing and visual arts; analyse from the historical point of view the cultural, social, and ideological aspects underneath them; critically analyse some specific spectacular events in relation to the figurative documents directly or indirectly used to create them; acquire the ability to improve their theatrical knowledge in time.
