Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

CONTAMINATION LAB
The Contamination Lab Verona (CLab Verona) is an experiential course with modules on innovation and enterprise culture that offers the opportunity to work in teams with students from all areas to solve challenges set by companies and organisations.
Upon completion of a CLab, students will be entitled to receive 6 CFU (D- or F-type credits).

PLEASE NOTE: In order to be admitted to any teaching activities, including those of your choice, you must be enrolled in the academic year in which the activities in question are offered. Students who are about to graduate in the December and April sessions are therefore advised NOT to undertake extracurricular activities in the new academic year in which they are not enrolled, as these graduation sessions are valid for students enrolled in the previous academic year. Therefore, students who undertake an activity in an academic year in which they are not enrolled will not be granted CFU credits.

Learning objectives
1) To provide a basic knowledge of the historical grammar of the Italian language; 2) To provide a basic knowledge of the history of the Italian language, from its origins to contemporary times; 3) To provide the tools for the linguistic analysis of significant texts (literary and language of use) in diachronic perspective; 4) To provide a basic knowledge of the main institutions of Italian metrics. KNOWLEDGE: Elements of historical grammar; Birth and development of the Italian language from its origins to contemporaneity. SKILLS: Recognising the features of continuity and discontinuity between Latin and Italian; Interpreting Italian language texts in a diachronic perspective; Evaluate linguistic and stylistic aspects of literary texts by different authors in a diachronic perspective; Identifying deep relationships between the history of language and the history of culture.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Passing the Minimum Knowledge Test (OFA).

Historical grammar outlines (from Latin to Italian vernacular).
History of the Italian language (from the formation of Italian vernaculars to neo-standard Italian).

Learning assessment procedures
Oral examination, designed to ascertain knowledge of the topics covered during the course and the ability to interpret the language of the texts in a diachronic perspective.
A supplementary syllabus is planned for non-attending students: please contact the lecturer.
Evaluation criteria
Each student will be asked at least three questions, one on historical grammar, one on the history of the Italian language and one on metrics (also based on the texts analysed): the grade (in thirtieths) will be awarded taking into account the knowledge acquired, the ability to range over other disciplines in relevant ways, and the ability to establish connections between the various moments in the history of the Italian language.
