Learning outcomes
The course aims to introduce the study of semantics and syntax of the English language, as well as to familiarise the students with Business English as a Lingua Franca (BELF).
By encouraging a metalinguistic analysis of the English language, the course also aims to strengthen the students' linguistic abilities so as to comply with the C1 level as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
By the end of the corse, the students will be aware of how syntactic and semantic relations within the English language, and will also be able to recognise some practical uses of syntax and semantics in the business world. The students will also be able to understand the role of BELF as a tool for their studies and as a professional asset.

Syntax: main definitions, sentence analysis.
Semantics: main definitions, words and their meaning.
Applications of syntax and semantics in online business.

Examination Methods
The final exam cannot be accessed without passing the exams English Language 1, English Literature 1, and the C1 CLA test (computerised test).
The consists in a written test concerning the topics explored during the course, and is a mix of open and multiple choice questions.
