Learning outcomes
This course offers an introduction to human language as a cognitive and communication system, by considering some general aspects of the internal structure of language as a cognitive system (phonology, morphology, syntax and the systems of interpretation), some properties of language acquisition and some phenomena of linguistic and communicative impairment
Program
Language acquisition and the arguments from the 'poverty of the stimulus'.
Some of the issues revolving around the acquisition of the lexicon, of the sound system of language, of the formation principles of words and sentences, of the interpretation of linguistic expressions in communicative contexts.
Typical and atypical language development.
