Petrarca's reception in Italy and Europe.
The work of Francesco Petrarca, in Latin and vernacular, in past centuries has been the subject of great attention by a vast and heterogeneous public of readers. The course aims to follow some aspects of these alternate European fortunes: after an introduction to the European reception of Petrarca's works, we will pay particular attention to the success of the Petrarchian work in some historical periods and in certain Italian and German cultural contexts.
Attending students can prepare the program on the notes taken in class and on the texts that will be published on the moodle platform.
Students who cannot attend, will prepare the exam on the following texts:
Francesco Petrarca, Canzoniere, edizione commentata a cura di Marco Santagata, Milano, Mondadori, 2018.
Francesco Petrarca, De vita solitaria, a cura di Marco Noce ; introduzione di Giorgio Ficara, Milano, A. Mondadori, 1992).
