Learning outcomes

The fist part of the course provides some basic concepts in commutative algebra, such as localization, Noetherian property and prime ideals. Further details will be available some weeks before the beginning of the course.

Program

Reminder on rings and ideals. The prime spectrum of a ring. The Zariski topology. Localisation. Finiteness conditions on field extensions. Radicals. Noetherian rings. Hilbert's Basis Theorem.
