Learning outcomes
To learn a set of basic notions on structure, components and functioning of an electronic computer (hardware and software), on computer networks and Internet, and on cyber-security (malware, cryptography, Internet security) for effective and proper use of the computer in the professional activity.
Program
Fundamentals of computer science: definition of computer science, computer, algorithm, definition of data and information, binary code (bit, bytes, basic operations).
Structure of a computer: Von Neumann machine; components of a computer, CPU, RAM, mass storage devices, I / O devices.
The software: BIOS, operating system, programming languages, compilers and interpreters.
Computer networks: protocols, classification of networks, LAN, WAN, Client-server, Peer-to-Peer.
Internet: TCP / IP protocol, the World Wide Web, Web browser, HTTP and HTML protocols.
Internet security: cookies, cryptography, TSL / SSL protocol, HTTPS protocol, server certificates, TOR network.
Data management applications: word processing programs (WYSIWYG and WYSIWYM paradigms , spreadsheets (main functionalities), databases (structure, SQL).
