Learning outcomes

Provide the basic knowledge to be able to implement an optimal approach to the health and rehabilitation needs of the elderly. Know the structural and pathophysiological alterations that characterize aging, the main geriatric syndromes and the peculiar modality of disease presentation in the elderly.

Program

Demographics and Epidemiology of Aging. Geriatrics as a medicine of complexity.
Multidimensional Geriatric Assessment. Biology of aging. Changes in body composition with aging: Sarcopenia. Malnutrition in the elderly. Obesity in the elderly. Geriatric syndromes. The falls. Syncope. Cognitive impairment and delirium. The immobilization syndrome.
