Learning outcomes

The aims of this study course are to have knowledge different items of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation: aerosol delivery, airway clearance techniques, laboratory and field tests, exercise programs, mechanical ventilation and physiotherapy in patients with tracheostomy.
Students have to be able to evaluate and to treat cardiopulmonary patients using correct outcome.

Program

- Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, physical activity and exercise physiology
- Objective and clinical examination of the patient with respiratory disease; chest objectivity and major instrumental examinations to evaluate the patient.
- Aerosoltherapy, Oxygentherapy and umidification
- Airway clearance techniques: Rational and Methods; cough, assisted cough, postural drainage, TEF, positive pressure techniques, ACBT,ELTGOL, autogenic drainage and other techniques
- Respiratory physiotherapy in the baby and preterm.
- Rehabilitation of the surgical patient.
- Mechanical ventilation.
- Dysphagia; Tracheostomy;
- Dyspnoea and leg effort
Stress reconditioning;
- Assessment of exercise capacity; CPET.
- Exercise limitations
- Most important field tests
- Training Principles; exercise programs: aerobic and anaerobic training
- Respiratory muscle training
- Exercise in severe and critical patient.

Examination Methods

The module Coordinator manages the exam (written and oral) mode that will be performed with Physiotherapy in Cardiac and rRespiratory Disease teachers.
The student has to be able to explain the different items of the lessons. over reported.
For written test, there are close and open questions.
During the lessons, some examples of written or oral exams are presented.
