To reach basic knowledge of contamination and development modes of the most common infectious diseases. To learn how to interpret data and epidemiological features in order to plan prevention and to promote health
INFECTIOUS DISEASES PREVENTION AND EPIDEMIOLOGY IN PUBLIC HEALTH
Sudents are expected to know the significante of principal sanitary and demographic indicators.
They should also acquire notions in general epidemiology and the prevention of infectious diseases

Microbiology indroduction and microrganisms classification. Bacteriology. bacteria cell: structure and functions of fondamental compounds as cell wall, citoplasmatic membrane, chromosome etc and non fondamental compounds as capsule, flagella. Spore: structure, formation and riactivation. Bacterial reproduction. Bacterial pathogenesis: colonisation, adherence, invsion factors and toxins production. Virology. Viruses structure and organisation. Virus replication cycles. Virus pathogenesis Parassitology: general characteristics and more important intestinal parassites. Food transmission infections: Enterobacteria (Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC), Enterohaemorragic E. coli (EHEC), Enteroadhesive E coli (EAEC) Enteroinvasive E. coli (EIEC). The final test is a written exam with multiple choice questions. The aim of the test is to verify the knowledge of all the topics discussed. The final evaluation is expressed in thirtieths.
