Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
To acquire the tools suitable for the recognition and transcription of musical notations from the 10th to the 17th century; to develop semiological knowledge related to musical scriptures.
Program
THE MEDIEVAL SONG
The course program includes the presentation and discussion of the following topics:
a) the Provençal song: morphology, modality, style, comparison between the sources;
b) morphology, modality and style of other medieval chants in the vernacular with metric text;
c) comparison between the language of chant and Provencal song;
d) analysis and transcription of significant examples.

Examination Methods
For the assessment of the acquired knowledge and skills, the oral exam is divided into three parts:
I) correction and evaluation of the transcripts delivered during the course (for a maximum score of 5/30);
II) discussion and evaluation of the required written text of centonization of a song on a given text (for a maximum score of 10/30);
III) analysis, comparison and oral discussion related to a medieval song (for a maximum score of 15/30).
In particular, will be evaluated the knowledge and skills acquired with respect to the analysis, transcription and critical comparison of the musical lessons of the musical pieces proposed in class.
