Learning outcomes
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
• multidisciplinary knowledge aimed at critical analysis of specific social problems
• multisciplinary knowledge aimed at reflecting on the dynamics in which the service is inserted
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ability to interpret the different situations of hardship and to promote the well-being of the community; reading and decision-making skills inherent to the problems of integration between social and health services; decision-making ability in complex organizational situations;
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
The course aims to provide the knowledge related to some areas of medicine that affect the causes and factors of dis-ease of greater social impact, taking into account the possible intervention strategies aimed at their removal, promoting the strengthening of health, with one look also at the organization of health services. The knowledge provided will also cover the clinical and social impact of substance abuse, regulatory and diagnostic aspects, rehabilitation therapies, knowledge of the main disabling outcomes that result in cerebrovascular, neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory neurological diseases with particular reference to the motor and cognitive deficits that negatively affect the quality of life and the social participation of the person and the family members.

1. Introduction: Fundamentals of Addiction Medicine 2. Substances of abuse: features, acute and chronic effects 3. Driving under influence of alcohol and drugs: relationships between substance abuse and car crashes 4. The administrative/medicolegal diagnosis of acute/chronic abuse of alcohol and drugs: methodologies, relevance and implications 5. The most relevant laws and acts: Penal Code, Drugs of Abuse Law, Road Traffic Code, Workplace Drug Testing Law. 6. Pharmacological and Drug-free therapies for the treatment and rehabilitation of substance addiction, and evaluation of their outcomes. 7 Gambling N.B. The program will be developed without refering to a suggested manual. Didactic material (slides, scientific articles, etc.) will be provided by the lecturer.

Definition of "health" and its evolution over time: repercussions in terms of health organization. Health determinants. Public health tools: investigative (Epidemiology), legislative and educational tools. The concepts of prevention, protection, health education and health promotion. Vaccination: evidence of efficacy. The concept of screening and population screening: purpose, evaluation and available evidence. The exam consists in the administration of a written questionnaire with closed and open answers. Correct answers are given and, if necessary, illustrated soon after all written questionnaires have been delivered, and the grade is communicated to the student. Students have the chance to request an oral integration in order to try and improve the grade of the written questionnaire. In some cases, generally in order to understand the reason of an answer, the oral integration can be requested by the lecturer.

------------------------ MM: Lezione ------------------------ The exam will consist of a written test with multiple choice questions and short answer open questions, aimed at verifying the actual learning of the concepts illustrated during the lessons and the ability to implement them in carrying out the professional activity. The contents of the written test will focus on the topics making up the Module program. The evaluation will be expressed in thirtieths and will be determined by the sum of the score assigned to the correct answer for each question contained in the written test. In particular, the answers may be given a different value depending on the difficulty and complexity of the corresponding questions.
