Definition of atom, element, sub-atomic particles, isotopes and radioactivity, chemical compound and molecule
Strong or weak bonds
Matter states and its changes
Mixtures and properties
Concept of mole and concentration of a solution
Energy forms
Concept of acidity and basicity, definition of pH
Chemical transformations
Redox reactions and electrochemical cell
The chemistry of carbon compounds, notes on the functional groups of organic molecules
The food pyramid: carbohydrates, vitamins, lipids, proteins
DNA and RNA: the molecules of life
Educational workshops for primary school students on various topics

Final verification by oral examination of the level of knowledge and in-depth analysis of the topics covered during the course.
The student shall prepare a deep oral presentation regarding one of the topic (free choice) of the course.

Evaluation criteria

The student must demonstrate that she/he has learned the basic concepts of inorganic and organic chemistry and that she/he has learned and understood methods and tools for teaching chemistry with particular attention to primary school children.
