Period

Semester 1 dal Oct 3, 2022 al Jan 27, 2023.

Learning objectives

The course aims at providing tools for programming complex robotics systems focusing on perception, planning and control, using a unified approach between theory and practice. At the end of the course the student will demonstrate ability to understand and implement perception, planning and control algorithms using established methodologies and tools for robot programming.

Prerequisites and basic notions

Physics (Newtonian Mechanics), Algebra, Control Theory

Program

- Direct kinematics of a manipulator
- Inverse kinematics of a manipulator
- Differential kinematics
- Kinematic redundancy
- Actuation and control systems
- Control of a robot in joint space
- Control of a robot in Cartesian space

Didactic methods

The course is carried out in about 48 hours of frontal lessons in which the fundamental theoretical concepts will be introduced and exercises will be solved, fostering discussion with students. Students on certified Covid quarantine can contact the teacher for additional materials.

Learning assessment procedures

The exam will consist of
Part 1. carrying out exercises at the whiteboard or on paper
Part 2. oral questions on theoretical topics

Students with disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), who intend to request the adaptation of the exam, must follow the instructions given HERE

Evaluation criteria

The mark will be expressed as the average of the evaluations related to Part 1 and Part 2.

Criteria for the composition of the final grade

The course is offered as a single module.
