Learning objectives
The course aims to provide an historical and theoretical understanding of the paradigms of globalization, State, and political and social citizenship.
Finally, the students will be able to grasp general elements and specific aspects of both the dominant models of western political thought and the manifold criticism of current globalization forms and trends.
Prerequisites and basic notions
Basic knowledge of political philosophy and modern and contemporary history.

HUMAN RIGHTS AND POLITICS.
FROM MODERN REVOLUTIONS TO HANNAH ARENDT'S POLITICAL THOUGHT
The first part of the Course presents a historical path relating to the theories and criticisms of human rights, presenting fundamental themes and concepts and paying particular attention to the eighteenth-century Declarations of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, to the nineteenth-twentieth-century constitutionalization of rights, to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) and to three emblematic critical perspectives (Olympe de Gouges, Karl Marx, Hannah Arendt).
The second part of the course focuses on a rereading of Hannah Arendt's political thought starting from a short essay by Richard Bernstein and "We Refugees" by Hannah Arendt.

Oral exam divided into two parts and aimed at the presentation and discussion of two topics (one relating to the first module and one relating to the second module).
