Academic calendar
The academic calendar shows the deadlines and scheduled events that are relevant to students, teaching and technical-administrative staff of the University. Public holidays and University closures are also indicated. The academic year normally begins on 1 October each year and ends on 30 September of the following year.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge of the most important landmarks in the history of cinema, with particular attention to the Hollywood and European context, and acquisition of a method of analysis of the film. The student must be able to place a film in its historical-cultural context demonstrating not only historical, linguistic and theoretical knowledge, but also the ability to process this knowledge in a well-argued synthesis. At the end of the course students will be expected to have acquired a capacity to analyze the form and content of particular film texts and to demonstrate an understanding of traditions of filmmaking in different national and international contexts.

The avant-garde of the European dumb

Italian neorealism
The Nouvelles vagues of the sixties
*Second part:
The actor in contemporary Hollywood cinema. What divistic models does the Hollywood industry offer? What does it mean to build a star? What are the types of masculinity embodied by Hollywood stars? To these and other questions will try to answer the course, focusing on the analysis of some divinity figures such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, Tom Cruise.

Examination Methods
Written exam: three open questions. The student must demonstrate mastery of the elements of film language, knowledge of the main junctions of film history and the ability to analyze the film texts in the program.
