Learning outcomes
To provide a basic introductory knowledge of general anthropology in terms of content, the main topics discussed in the course of the history of the discipline, the methods and ethical requirements.
Program
As an introduction to anthropological knowledge several topics, from the most classic (such as the concept of culture, ritual, cosmology, etc.) to those most currently under debate (like multiculturalism, globalisation, neo-racism, etc.) will be selected and discussed in detail, bearing in mind their role within the education system. Part of the course will deal with the development of the fostering and adoption of minors in the Italian society, and the conflicting expressions created by the new multi-cultural contests will be analysed with an anthropological eye.
