M-DEA/01 - DEMOLOGY, ETHNOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY
To provide a basic introductory knowledge of general anthropology in terms of content, the main topics discussed in the course of the history of the discipline, the methods and ethical requirements.
As an introduction to anthropological knowledge several topics, from the most classic (such as the concept of culture, ritual, cosmology, etc.) to those most currently under debate (like multiculturalism, globalisation, neo-racism, etc.) will be selected and discussed in detail. Part of the course will take a closer look at the following aspects of the contemporary world:
- the relationship between human rights and cultural diversity;
- imigration from Eastern Europe into Italy, especially of women;
- the development of a little studied form of racism: anti-gypsyism.
