MM: BIOINFORMATICA

The course aims to introduce the students to the use of Biomedical databases accessible via the computer network. During the practical exercises the following computational tools for querying the major databases will be used: GeneBank, Genecards, SwissProt, CDD (Conserved Domain Database), and OMIM (Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man). The human genome sequences will be analyzed using alignment algorithms such as BLAST (Basic Local Alignment Search Tool) and FASTA; research strategies based on the alignment programs will be applied to genomic sequence analysis; programs accessible by the server ExPASy (Expert Protein Analysis System) Bioinformatic resource portal will be used for protein analysis.

The course aims to provide basic knowledge on the most common pathologies affecting the oral cavity, with particular focus on microbial pathologies and the behavior that have to be observed in order to avoid them. The student will have to master the basic knowledge of main oral pathologies, especially plaque-related pathologies, and the strategies concerning their prevention
------------------------
MM: IGIENE DENTALE
------------------------
The aims of course give to students the ability to apply correctly the dental hygiene methods and recognition of gingival inflammatory changes and to propose preventive measures for all dental diseases induced by bacterial plaque . Furthemore will be discuss the founding principles of basic dental care- home treatment and dental care- professional treatment that including professional oral Hygiene , scaling , root planing , root debridement and polishing.
