Fundamentals of research in rehabilitation medicine (2019/2020)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
The course aims to increase the knowledge of the characteristics of the different types of experimental design and the guidelines available in rehabilitation research methodology and to identify the tools to critically assess quantitative and qualitative research in rehabilitation. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS IN CLINICAL PRACTICE The course aims to increase the knowledge of the different types of experimental design in the field of rehabilitation research; to understand international guidelines for the implementation of these experimental designs; and to critically review the literature concerning the methodological section and the choice of experimental design. ADVANCED METHODOLOGIES IN SPECIALIST REHABILITATION ASSESSMENT The course aims to provide a basic knowledge of the psychometric properties of the clinical assessment tools; to critically evaluate the properties of quantitative and qualitative tools for evaluation procedures in rehabilitation and transfer the evidence available on assessment tools to professional practice. EVIDENCE-BASED REHABILITATION (EBM) The course aims to understand the principles of the EBM methodology; to know how to utilize the tools needed to gather scientific evidence, in particular, those for research and evaluation of evidence and to discuss the application of research results in clinical practice.
