Visceral rehabilitation II (2018/2019)
The teaching is organized as follows:
Learning outcomes
------------------------
MM: UROLOGIA
------------------------
Provide students with the knowledge required to understand Low Urinary Tract FUNCTION and the corresponding DISFUNCTION. This is the study of "Functional Urology" which implies several rehabilitation treatment approaches.
------------------------
MM: ONCOLOGIA
------------------------
------------------------
MM: GERIATRIA
------------------------
Achieve the essential knowledge for understanding the problems of the elderly patient, with particular attention to the great geriatric syndromes, considering the pathophysiological changes associated with aging and how they reflect on the presentation and course of the main diseases in old age. Understand the importance of the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) in addressing the peculiar mode of approach to the geriatric patient.
------------------------
MM: METODOLOGIA DELLA FISIOTERAPIA ONCOLOGICA
------------------------
Students should be able to define for each Rehabilitation Specification under review the affected anatomy site related to related anatomical relationships, permanent and non-permanent functional disabilities, psycho-emotional problems after surgery or diagnosis of neoplasia. They will also need to be able to assess primary rehabilitation issues and schedule therapeutic intervention based on early, mid and long-term goals
------------------------
MM: METODOLOGIA DELLA FISIOTERAPIA GERIATRICA
------------------------
The formative objective of this course is the comprehension of how the characteristics of elder people can modify physiotherapy interventions in comparison to similar illnesses in adult individuals. The course also aims at providing students with the specific competences to work out functional and cognitive evaluations in elder patients in order to define objectives and plan suitable physiotherapy interventions in relation to the physiotherapy diagnosis. Furthermore, students will analyse the role of a physiotherapist working with a geriatric team for the definition and realization of a rehabilitative project.
------------------------
MM: METODOLOGIA DELLA FISIOTERAPIA UROGINECOLOGICA
------------------------
Learning basic anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor and of its main disfunctions. Learning main rehabilitation tecniques such as manual or instrumental ones.
Program
------------------------
MM: UROLOGIA
------------------------

MM: METODOLOGIA DELLA FISIOTERAPIA GERIATRICA
------------------------
Geriatric physiotherapy undergoes the complexities of elder patients who present peculiar characteristics. Starting from a general definition of ageing, lessons will focus on the characteristics of elder people and the geriatric syndromes as elements that can influence physiotherapy, paying special attention to the concept of frailty. The characteristics and objectives of geriatric rehabilitation will be provided in relation to the rehabilitative project planned by a multidisciplinary team. The following topics will be developed: o The concept of functional disorder in geriatrics; o Sarcopenia and the functional decline in elder people: the role of physiotherapy; o Physical activity and adapted physical activity; o Hypokynetic syndrome and immobilization syndrome; o Falls in elder people; o Containment; o Cognitive decline in elder people: relapse in physiotherapy processes. Motor rehabilitation and cognitive decline. Cognitive rehabilitation. o Objectives and strategies in physiotherapy, specifically in geriatrics, rehabilitation in long-term care, Integrated Home Care Services (ADI), residential long-term care structures. o The role of a caregiver and educational competences of a physiotherapist. o Peculiarities of physiotherapy treatments in elder patients affected by illnesses: neurologic (Ictus cerebri and Parkinson), orthopedics (in particular thigh bone fracture), respiratory and cardiac illnesses.
------------------------
MM: METODOLOGIA DELLA FISIOTERAPIA UROGINECOLOGICA
------------------------
Pelvic floor anatomy. The pelvic girdle and its organs. Muscles, fasciae and tendons. Bladder and urethra. Voiding bladder physiology. Colon and rectum. Defecation physiology. Main disfunctions related to pelvic floor and their classification (main types of incontinence, sexual disorders, chronic pelvic pain...) Fisrt approach to riabilitation: anamnesis, patient's assessment, project work. Full history and physical examination of the patient: bladder training/diary, pad test, PC test. Management of the treatment (manual and instrumental tecniques).
